Answer: To make it easier for me to find Video4Linux information.
Video4Linux is confusing enough for this newbie.
This site -- Video4Linux.net and Video4Linux.tv is for getting video and still images through your Linux server and onto the Internet.
Network cameras and camera servers. With these, you just give them an IP and and ethernet connection and you have images. Some network cameras and network camera servers even come with a built in web server. No PC is required to connect them to you local ethernet or the web. Using these network cameras and camera servers is probably the easiest way to get images on the Internet. It may not be the cheapiest in terms of hardware costs. Once you add in the cost of programing and softweare installations, these network cameras with their own web server built in may be less expensive and much more flexible than trying to get the drivers and hardware for a USB camera(s) to send their image through a Linux server.
